P1MONO TRANSCRIPT PRIVACY

Mono Transcript Privacy Policy

What the extension handles to retrieve captions, and how that information is treated.

REFERENCE TRANSLATIONThis English version is provided for convenience only. If there is any inconsistency or conflict between the English and Japanese versions, the Japanese version will govern.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the free public release of the “Mono Transcript” Chrome extension. It currently has no account registration, payments, advertising, or analytics.

2. Information handled

  • The URL and title of the YouTube video or Short currently opened by the user
  • Caption text, timing, and language information made available on YouTube
  • Video and playlist URLs pasted by the user into the batch-processing page
  • Video links available on a selected playlist
  • The light or dark theme preference

To retrieve captions, the extension temporarily detects a transcript response returned by YouTube within the user-selected YouTube page, or reads the transcript currently displayed there. It does not read the content or browsing history of unrelated websites.

3. Purposes

  • Displaying and copying captions, and exporting them as TXT, Markdown, or SRT
  • Processing user-selected URLs and playlists in a batch and saving the results as a ZIP
  • Remembering the selected theme
  • Showing diagnostic information to the user when retrieval fails

4. Transfer, storage, and sharing

URLs, video titles, caption text, caption languages, playlist information, and diagnostic information are not sent to or stored on external servers operated by Mono Tools. They are not sold or shared with third parties and are not used for advertising, behavioral tracking, or analytics. Mono Tools has no mechanism for its developer to view this information.

Network communication used to retrieve captions or playlists takes place between the user’s browser and YouTube. Exported files are stored in a download location controlled by the user.

5. Chrome permissions

  • activeTab: Checks only the current YouTube tab after the user opens the extension.
  • scripting: Runs the packaged caption-retrieval process on a YouTube page selected by the user.
  • downloads: Saves a generated file through Chrome after the user selects a download action.
  • Optional access to youtube.com: Requested only when the user starts a batch, then used to process the selected URLs in a visible temporary window.

6. Retention and deletion

Caption text and batch results are discarded when the extension page is closed. Only the theme preference is stored persistently on the device. Removing the extension’s data in Chrome also removes that preference. Users control and delete exported files from their own device.

7. Third-party services

Mono Transcript operates on YouTube and Google Chrome. The terms and privacy policies of their respective providers apply to those services. Mono Transcript is not provided or endorsed by YouTube or Google.

The use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

8. Future changes and contact

If sign-in, payments, license checks, analytics, external APIs, or similar features are added, we will update this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures before those features launch. Contact k.hirahara0220@gmail.com with questions.
